How to Overcome Obstacles in Christian Life
As a Christian, we are not exempted from facing obstacles in life. In fact, we are assured by the Bible that in this world, we will have trouble (John 16:33). But the good news is that we have a faithful God who promises to be with us through every trial and to give us the strength to overcome. In this blog post, we will look at some ways to overcome obstacles in our Christian life.
1. Trust in God
The first step in overcoming any obstacle is to trust in God. The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Trusting in God means acknowledging that He is in control and that He loves us, even when our circumstances suggest otherwise.
2. Pray
Prayer is a powerful weapon that we have as Christians. When we face obstacles, we can turn to God in prayer and ask for His help. The Bible says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
3. Look to Jesus
When we face obstacles, it’s important to fix our eyes on Jesus. The writer of Hebrews encourages us to, “fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2). Jesus is our ultimate example of faith and endurance. When we look to Him, we are reminded that we are not alone in our struggles.
4. Seek support from other believers
We were not meant to go through life alone. God has given us other believers to support and encourage us in our walk with Him. When we face obstacles, we should seek support and prayer from other Christians. The Bible says, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). Seek out a mentor or accountability partner who can guide you through your struggles.
5. Be Persistent
Obstacles can feel overwhelming, and there may be times when we feel like giving up. But as Christians, we are called to be persistent in our faith. The Apostle Paul wrote, “let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2). Even when it’s hard, keep persevering in your faith and trust that God will give you the strength to overcome.
Conclusion
Obstacles are a normal part of life, but as Christians, we can overcome them by trusting in God, praying, looking to Jesus, seeking support from other believers, and being persistent in our faith. With God’s help and the support of our brothers and sisters in Christ, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way.
